Sheffield's St Luke's Hospice is our new Charity Partner
We're very pleased to annouce that St Luke's Hospice is the Hallamshire's official Charity partner for 2013.
St Luke's provides dedicated specialist care for adults from all over Sheffield who have cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, both at the hospice in Whirlow and in patients' own homes throughout the city. Every year the hospice cares for around 1,400 patients and supports their families and friends - more than 5,000 people in total. To find out more please visit www.stlukeshospice.org.uk. As a charity, the hospice needs to raise more than £4 million a year to keep on adding quality of life to the Sheffield people who need them most, at a time when every day matters more than ever.
On top of that, St Luke's still has to raise an extra £2.5 million towards its current £5 million "Room to Care" appeal to rebuild it's In Patient Unit.
How can you help?
We're making it very easy for you to give your support by donating goods to St Luke's Charity shops. Simply bring your items along to the club and leave them in the bin provided in the Ladies changing rooms or leave behind reception.
One bag of clothes can fund two hours of patient care, so anything you can contribute really will make a difference. Used sports gear is very welcome too. There are now collecting tins in the bar, and we'll be running future fundraising events in partnership with St Luke's.
Nick Matthew and Jonny Marray are both already St Luke's patrons and are supporting the hospice by, for example, offering their court time as charity auction lots. Please join them in lending your own support in whatever ways you feel able to. We look forward to a fruitful partnership with St Luke's, for the benefit of the whole city.» Return to new listing
