History Of Hallamshire

Our club was founded in 1885 & has from what we know a most interesting and rich history.

After a discussion at a recent board meeting & questions from members, one of the current board members - Neil Widdowson has agreed to collate a full history of the Club. It is intended that a section of the website will then be created for the history to be displayed.

I`m sure many of you have snippets of information & old photos we can use.

Can anybody with any history and interesting facts about the club - including more recent times, please email this to Neil directly on neil.widdowson@blueyonder.co.uk

Membership is available for under 18's to use the gym. It is 'Silver Gym U18' and is £36 for 3 months with a £10 joining fee. We feel it is safer for the under 18's to be members as they get a full induction & option of a free programme to follow whilst in the gym.

Hallamshire named Yorkshire LTA Tennis Club of the Year section closed section open

Hallamshire named Yorkshire LTA Tennis Club of the Year

The Club was delighted to have achieved this prestigious award for the first time. The Yorkshire LTA has well over 200 clubs and Hallamshire was chosen by the Yorkshire LTA Board.

The areas highlighted for our success were the facility improvements we have been able to put in place as part of our Sport England grant; the level of community activities driven by the Academy; the huge success of the Club's Great British Tennis Weekend Open Day earlier this year and the continuous, steady increase in the number of tennis members at the Club.  The Board, the Tennis Committee, the Coaches, the staff and the tennis members  have all contributed to the achievement of this fantastic award.
