Hallamshire's Nick Matthew New World No.1!

On Friday 21 May 2010 Nick Matthew successfully become the NEW WORLD No.1 SQUASH PLAYER! Competing in the SKY OPEN in Egypt, Nick comfortably beat Thierry Lincou 11/8, 7/11, 11/9, 11/5 (3-1). The top seed and previous world No.1 Ramy Ashour lost his battle against Karim Darwish 11/8, 11/5, 11/7 (3-0) in the other semi-final allowing Nick to earn enough tournament points to step ahead of Ashour in the world rankings.

When the June rankings are published Nick will officially become the new world No.1 squash player. This will be a new personal life-time achievement for Nick! On behalf of all the members and staff at Hallamshire congratulations go to Nick and family!
